Welcome
August! I hope all you folks had a great time up at Camp and are ready for a
new year of scouting adventures! I know most of our scouts have already started
or will be starting school this month but that doesn’t mean that Summer is over
just yet. August falls within the summer season, so we still have some warm
weather to enjoy before the Autumn months take over.
While
you were out in the wilderness, I hope some of you took advantage and did some
star gazing. August is known for meteor showers, in fact, the Perseid meteor
shower takes place every year starting around mid-July to late August but this
year, the peak of the shower was between August 11 through the 12th.
If anyone was able to capture it on camera, please send me your photos, I would
love to share that with the district.
Did you
know that August has month long observances, just like some other months but
something I wasn’t aware of is that August holds an observance called; What
Will Be Your Legacy Month and it really got me thinking…What will be my legacy?
It’s a deep thought, right? For Lord Robert Baden-Powell, his vision was simple.
He brought together a small group of young boys all who came from different
backgrounds, to embark on an experiment of what would be camping, wood crafting,
life saving skills and patriotism. His vision started small and grew, now
reaching over 54 million scouts, in almost every nation on earth. His legacy is
Scouting. What will be your legacy?

table falls on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. We are now meeting Hybrid. So,
you can now either come down in person or tune remotely from wherever you may
be.
Remember, Roundtable
is for everyone! Not just unit leaders.
